clave para el consumo humano, industrial y agropecuario, el agua subterránea
afecta la vegetación, tanto natural como cultivada, a través de su oferta
directa de agua para las plantas o como un agente generador de anegamiento. Al
mismo tiempo, la vegetación influye sobre la dinámica de la napa freática (agua
subterránea). Por ejemplo, el reemplazo de pastizales por plantaciones
forestales ocasiona cambios importantes tanto en la profundidad como en la
salinidad de la napa. Este nexo recíproco es más frecuente en sistemas donde la
napa se encuentra cerca de la superficie. Este es el caso de gran parte de los
pastizales del centro de nuestro país (provincias de Buenos Aires, La Pampa,
parte de Córdoba, Santa Fé y San Luis), donde el clima húmedo, el relieve plano
y las pobres redes de escurrimiento, determinan la presencia de agua subterránea
muy cerca de la superficie. El agua subterránea está conectada a los ecosistemas
de la superficie terrestre a través de procesos de recarga y descarga. En estos
procesos intervienen distintos flujos que surgen de una compleja interacción
entre la atmósfera, los suelos, la vegetación y el paisaje, con diversas
interconexiones y mecanismos de retroalimentación. En este trabajo usamos
información remota (índices espectrales obtenidos de imágenes Landsat y datos
del satélite GRACE), y<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>análisis de
series temporales de datos freáticos, climáticos, y de uso de la tierra para
explorar la dinámica del agua subterránea en los pastizales del centro de
Argentina. <o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P></FONT></FONT></SPAN></DIV>
