Se encuentra abierta la convocatoria para graduados universitarios para la
realizaci?n del Curso ?Transferencia de genes en terapia celular? que se
realizar? entre el 2 y el 6 de mayo de 2011, en la sede de la Fundaci?n

El curso constar? de clases te?ricas sobre la biolog?a molecular y la
preparaci?n de vectores virales para transferencia g?nica a c?lulas y las
aplicaciones actuales y futuras de terapias celulares y g?nicas.

Se dar? ?nfasis a los mecanismos moleculares y las aplicaciones cl?nicas
futuras de la reprogramaci?n celular. Asimismo se realizar?n trabajos
pr?cticos con participaci?n intensiva de los alumnos (?hands-on?) sobre la
transferencia de genes a distintos tipos celulares utilizando vectores lenti
y adenovirales, generando c?lulas reprogramadas.

Adem?s se generar? un stock adenoviral y se realizar?n controles de calidad
y de bioseguridad del mismo.

El curso es intensivo (m?s de 8 horas diarias). Te?ricas y pr?cticas podr?n
ser en ingl?s.

Requisitos:

Graduados de biolog?a, bioqu?mica o medicina con conocimientos previos de
biolog?a molecular.

Excelente manejo del ingl?s escrito y oral.

La Oficina de Enlace Argentina - Uni?n Europea (ABEST) est? organizando una
sesi?n de capacitaci?n especial para los Puntos Nacionales de Contacto (PNC)
y los Puntos de Contacto Institucionales (ICI) para mejorar el Sistema
Nacional de Informaci?n a fin de difundir las oportunidades de cooperaci?n
en Argentina brindadas a trav?s el S?ptimo Programa Marco (7PM).

Dicha actividad se realizar? del 14 al 16 de marzo de 2011 y est? destinada
a los PNC de Argentina, los representantes de universidades y centros de
investigaci?n encargados de la gesti?n y aspectos financieras de proyectos
internacionales de I+D y PCNs de Bolivia y otros pa?ses de Am?rica Latina.

El orador principal del evento ser? Paul Jamet, Coordinador Nacional de los
PCN de Francia y representante de la Direcci?n General de Investigaci?n e
Innovaci?n del Ministerio de Educaci?n Superior e Investigaci?n de dicho
pa?s. Adem?s, la Sra. Cristina Pinto, PCN de Sud?frica en Aspectos Legales y

(DST) comentando las experiencias del Programa Europeo-Sudafricano para la

El Programa Personas ofrece apoyo a la movilidad de los investigadores y la
promoci?n profesional, tanto para investigadores de dentro de la Uni?n
Europea como a nivel internacional. Se aplica por medio de una serie de
acciones llamadas Marie Curie y dispone de becas de investigaci?n y otras
medidas con las que ayudar a investigadores a desarrollar sus habilidades y
competencias a lo largo de su carrera profesional.

-  3?  Convocatoria abierta del Programa ALFA

ALFA III, tanto en sus dos primeras convocatorias de propuestas lanzadas en
2008 y 2010 como en la presente convocatoria pretende reunir las condiciones
necesarias para llevar a cabo acciones que favorezcan la integraci?n
regional, el desarrollo socioecon?mico y la inclusi?n social en los pa?ses
beneficiarios.

En esta tercera fase de consolidaci?n se subraya lo siguiente: la
cooperaci?n para el desarrollo y el fortalecimiento institucional; el
refuerzo del papel de la Educaci?n Superior en el desarrollo global,
equilibrado y equitativo de la sociedad latinoamericana; y la promoci?n de
un ?rea com?n Uni?n Europea 2013 Am?rica Latina de Educaci?n Superior. Esta
convocatoria es una convocatoria de propuestas restringida. En un primer
momento s?lo se presentar?n los documentos de s?ntesis para su evaluaci?n.
Posteriormente, los solicitantes cuyos documentos de s?ntesis hayan sido
preseleccionados ser?n invitados a presentar una solicitud completa. Tras la
evaluaci?n de las solicitudes completas, se verificar? la elegibilidad de
los solicitantes que hayan sido seleccionados provisionalmente.

El plazo para la presentaci?n de los documentos de s?ntesis expira el 25 de

En el caso de Redes Tem?ticas, el coordinador deber? ser una persona f?sica

(Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, El
Salvador, Espa?a, Guatemala, Honduras, M?xico, Nicaragua, Panam?, Paraguay,
Per?, Portugal, R. Dominicana, Uruguay y Venezuela).

Cada propuesta debe tener un m?nimo de 6 grupos participantes (grupo del
coordinador + 5 socios) de al menos 6 pa?ses iberoamericanos diferentes,
signatarios del Programa CYTED.

En el caso de Proyectos de Investigaci?n Consorciados, el coordinador deber?
ser una entidad jur?dica sin ?nimo de lucro, establecida en un pa?s
iberoamericano de los anteriormente citados. Cada propuesta debe ser
presentada por un consorcio iberoamericano compuesto como m?nimo por 6
socios contratistas (incluyendo el coordinador) de, al menos, 4 pa?ses
iberoamericanos diferentes, signatarios del Programa CYTED.

Los Aportes No Reembolsables Internacionales son fondos ejecutados por la
Agencia Nacional de Promoci?n Cient?fica y Tecnol?gica, a trav?s del Fondo
Tecnol?gico Argentino (FONTAR).

Se convoca a la presentaci?n de Proyectos de Innovaci?n Tecnol?gica para la
adjudicaci?n de Aportes No Reembolsables (ANR 800 INT I) destinados al
financiamiento de proyectos de desarrollo tecnol?gico presentados por
empresas PyMEs cuyas ideas proyecto hayan sido aprobadas conjuntamente por
el Ministerio de Ciencia Tecnolog?a e Innovaci?n Productiva de Argentina y
su contraparte en la cooperaci?n binacional o multilateral correspondiente
en el marco del Programa de Innovaci?n Tecnol?gica II (PIT II).

BECAS
- Graduate scholarship opportunities at Masdar Institute  of Science and
Technology

Masdar Institute accepts applications from qualified local and international
students. Acceptance into the programs depends on academic qualifications
and English proficiency, as all lectures, laboratory sessions, and
written/oral examinations at the Institute will be conducted in English.

All successful applicants to Masdar Institute are offered a scholarship
which provides full financial support. The scholarships, which are available
to students from all nationalities, include all tuition fees, laptop,
medical insurance, housing, travel expenses, and a cost of living allowance.

Masdar Institute practices a rolling admissions process.  Applications
normally open at the end of October and tend to close the following May.
However, the admissions process may close earlier if all slots are filled
before then.

UAE students and students with a UAE residence visa who are graduating in
May, June or July of the intake year are encouraged to apply in January with
their partial transcripts pending their final semester.

Applicants meeting the high admission standards may be offered admission
immediately. Applicants who do not meet the admission standards will also be
informed immediately. However, most applications are likely be put on hold
subject to further evaluation of their academic credentials in comparison
with the larger pool of applicants.

- Iberoamerican Meeting on Ontological Research -  (CITA 2011)

In the context of the 6th Iberoamerican Conference on Telematics (CITA 2011)
to be held in Gramado, Brazil, we are organizing an Iberoamerican Meeting on
Ontological Research. This event is being planned under the umbrella of the
International Outreach program of the International Association for
Ontologies and Applications (IAOA ? www.iaoa.org).

The idea of the event is to promote a scientific gathering for the different
groups doing research related to Ontological Engineering and Applications of
Ontology in Iberoamerica. This initiative serves the short term goal of
increasing the community self-awareness as well as providing a forum for
exploring collaboration opportunities. Moreover, it serves the long term
goal of fomenting the creation of a de facto Iberoamerican Community on the
topic with its own scientific forums and agenda.

IMPORTANT DATES AND WORKSHOP FORMAT

Instead of organizing a regular workshop with the submission of regular
scientific papers, we aim with this opportunity to stimulate the submission
of position papers that describe the research program of the several
iberoamerican groups in the aforementioned areas. These research papers
shall be published in Workshop proceedings via the indexed CEUR system.

The CITA conference will take place between 16 and 18 May and the workshop
will be held in one of the days of that conference (to be defined). If you
are interested in participating in such an event, please send an intention
to submit before March, 7th. The deadline for submitting the position papers
themselves is March, 31st.

SUBMISSION FORMAT

The intention to submit should contain only the name of the research group,
the group?s complete affiliation, and a list of the research topics pursued
by the group in the aforementioned areas. The group?s research statement
(position paper) should have no more than 6 pages (LNCS format) and should
contain the following information: (a) Research Statement (the group?s view
and focus on the general area of ontologies); (b) Main areas of research;
(c) History of the Group and Members.  Both papers should be submitted
directly to gguizzardi en inf.ufes.br and can be written in English, Portuguese
or Spanish.

- IGBP Science Symposium - Global Change: mounting pressure on the Earth
System - Maryland

The International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme announce a symposium, Global
change: mounting pressure on the Earth system/ to be held on 1 April in
Washington DC, hosted by NASA.

The symposium will highlight recent advances in global environmental change
research, focusing on challenges posed by mounting pressure from global
change on marine, terrestrial and human systems. It is intended to
strengthen links between IGBP and the US science community.

Presentations drawn from the IGBP core projects, IGBP-led studies, and US
science research will demonstrate the relevance of these topics to US global
change science and how this science can inform decision and policy makers. A

- The GEBCO/Nippon Foundation Training Programme

Postgraduate Certificate in Ocean Bathymetry at the University of New
Hampshire, USA (2011-2012). The Nippon Foundation of Japan has provided
funding for GEBCO to train a new generation of scientists and hydrographers
in ocean bathymetry. The 12-month course, leading to a Postgraduate
Certificate in Ocean Bathymetry (PCOB), has been held at the University of
New Hampshire, USA, since 2004.

The program offers full scholarships for selected students during the
training, including tuition, fees and stipend, wich are supported directly
by the NIPPON Foundation and GEBCO.

The closing date for applications is 30 March 2011.

- 4th International Congress on Energy and Environment Engineering and
Management - M?rida (Spain)

The 4th International Congress on Energy and Environment Engineering and
Management - IVCIIEM (www.ciiem.net), wich will be held in M?rida from 25th
to 27th May 2011, is organized by teachers belonging to the Areas of
Engineering of the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre (Portugal) and the
School of Industrial Engineering of the Extremadura University (Spain). This
congress has the main target of joining academic, researchers, engineers,
consultants and firms from the Energy and Environment Sectors, in order to
interchange experiences, present advances and new projects about the
rational and efficient use of Energy and the Energetic Conversion Systems,
and also to analyse the different solutions focused to reduce the impact
caused due to energetic systems on the environment and the environment

The publication will be made not only in the summary book but also in CD-ROM
format with the whole content of the papers. Therefore, those communications
having enough quality (once the revision process is passed) will have the
possibility of being published in International Journals.

This 4th edition will also have a publication edited by the congress itself,
where those articles which haven't been selected by the editors for the
scientific journals, will be published.

We will also have prizes for the best works in each area, certified by our
organizing committee and we will also select the best works of young
researchers.

Finally, on behalf of the Organizing Committee we would like to invite all
the Scientific Community to participate in this project, presenting papers
or communications related to any of the proposed areas

- Concurso de ensayos de investigaci?n hist?rica sobre los 50 a?os de la
computaci?n en la Argentina

En mayo del 2011 se cumplen 50 a?os de la puesta en marcha de la primera
computadora cient?fica del pa?s, Clementina, una Mercury de Ferranti.

Para conmemorarlo el Departamento de Computaci?n de la Facultad de Ciencias
Exactas y Naturales de la Universidad de Buenos Aires organiza una serie de
actividades que incluyen este concurso.

Las obras ser?n recibidas entre el 15 de abril y el 16 de mayo de 2011.

El jurado,  integrado por Jorge Aguirre, Dora Barrancos y Pablo Jacovkis,
se expedir? el 21 de junio de 2011.
